STOP

Am sure most of your must have heard of 8 consecutive blasts in Mumbai local railway trains yesterday. Mumbai local trains, considered to be the life line of the city saw 8 bomb blasts in just 11 mins, taking life of around 180 people and injuring more than 450.

Just to give u a sense of the situation- total number of people traveling by these trains annually are twice the entire UK’s population. This means, these trains can carry the entire UK population to and fro, 2 times over. WOW, that’s a huge number. And I am wondering how come someone can even think of taking innocent lives in such a barbaric manner. Each compartment carrying 300 people. Think about it, its sends shivers down your spine.

For more information on the blasts, you could log on to any of Mumbai’s news papers and read on. The whole idea behind me writing this blog is not as a result of what each of us have gone through. Yes, now all of us know that when the time comes every mumbaikar will be on their toes to help others in need. But the unfortunate part is, from the news reports which I have been seeing since yesterday evening resonates the feeling of “All you Mumbaikars are CHUTIYAs”.

To my understanding for running any company successfully, everything boils down to people management and cash flow. Unfortunately, the Maharashtra Government and the Indian Government have failed to do so in case of Mumbai (I know in case of many other cities, but this article is about Mumbai).

During last year’s 26/7 mishap, one thing that came out openly was Mumbai single handedly paid 40% (Rs. 5,800,000,000,000) of the country’s over tax. And in return when this whole rain thing happened, Mumbai was granted just Rs. 50,000,000,000 (just bout 1% of the TAX amount Mumbai paid) from the Central government. Obviously, in this case we have rights to ask why the fuck!?

With yesterdays 8 bomb blasts, the State Government announced to reimburse Rs. 1 lakh per head or should we say dead head! to the family members and Rs. 50,000 to all those people who suffered severe injuries. The Railway Minister, Mr. Laalu Prasad Yadav said families of all those people who died in yesterday’s bomb blasts will get Rs. 5 Lakh from the Railway ministry and injured ppl gets free treatment! One thing I sense out of these statements is, yaar hum kya chutiya hai! All blasts happened in first class compartments. Ppl traveling by first class compartments pay 10 times more fare as compared to the second class compartments. So it is safe to guess that average annual income of guys traveling by first class wud be around 5 to 6 lakhs. Toh bhenchod, kya bada kaam kiya by announcing that their families will get Rs. 6 lakhs! And from their annual income most of them also pay their taxes regularly. Chal announce kiya toh kiya, I hope they don’t put any tax on the reimbursement.

People present at the incidents say cops and relief team did not reach on time and on the other side the government says because it was the peak hour time and lots of traffic their officials could not reach. Am wondering how these TV reporters managed to reach their on time! With their huge truck like vehicle with dish antenna mounted on it! Today we have many people alive only because they got timely help from the locals. Otherwise the death toll would have been much more en the official number of 180.

Yes, agreed the disaster management kicked in real soon and the government could take control over the situation fairly quickly. But again the question comes is, how efficient our intelligence department is! One can understand one blast, chal 2 blasts, but here we are talking bout 8 blasts in just 11 mins.

Another thing that really bugs me is this whole mobile phone network jammed scenario. Just to give u the back ground, they have some term called spectrum in case of cell phone network. It seems the protocol the Indian Government has approved per spectrum can support around 1 lakh phone connections simultaneously. In one of the interviews, Mr. Mittal from Bharti telecom clearly said that right now the need is that every spectrum should support at least 7 – 8 lakh connections. And all the cell phone service providers are ok with investing in hardware that can support the same. But the problem is again the approval from the government. I would like to request the government to open up and let us know what the difficulty in approving such system is. It’s as simple as, better spectrum or whatever will mean better connectivity. If I am paying for the service with 12.2% TAX, I wud like the return to be better if not the best.

My only question is, u pay tax for every bloody thing u own or use and if at the end of it this is what u get in return, is it fair? Mumbai ke TAX ka paisa jata kidhar hai!!!

Last Sunday, someone threw some garbage on Mina tai’s (Mr. Bala Sahib Thakres wife) statue and all Shivsena workers got “angry” and blew up a Volvo bus and also created a chaos across Bombay. As these news channels were covering the incident, I hear Mr. Manohar Joshi sayin “Gussa toh niklega hi!” I want to ask him, where were your shiv sainik yesterday, when this city really need all support and help? After all this injustice, your workers don’t feel the need to get angry and do something bout it? Or are they really dumb and they don’t understand any of these things and they work only on ur commands?

After the incident, all the ministers want to come over and take a good look at the scene. I say we don’t need u at this moment (and I guess Star News will also support me with this). We want the entire police department to work on securing the city and not each one of YOU. PLEASE UNDERSTAND.

Last but not least, please STOP SAYING “SALAAM MUMBAI” for the way it reacts to every sad situations. Ones u help others, u r good. Twice u do, u r champ. Thrice, u r God. After last years rains and these bomb blasts, we know we are champs and we will be there when our city needs us. But you don’t want us to be GOD. Please DO NOT let this city die coz of these things.

GOD BLESS!

you rock paro..
very well written ...

I hate attitude of some people towards mumbai ... while most of the people were helping each other some people were just acting snobbish and were paranoid about helping others.

some crap magazine (Readers Digest) call this city as rudest... bullshit ..

we need to unite and do something about our city, country together
politicians are screwing our country..
90% of them need some paper/prompter to speak on TV ... shit man ..

you asked bout where the money(taxes paid by mumbayites) goes ... dude the ans is the money goes in pockets of politicians and bigwigs from other states...
the money goes to help entire country apart from mumbai ...

well written Paras ... you've gotten the right points across ..

and i'll agree with mayavi when he says that we need to bloody unite. we're taking entirely too much bull shit ... from the government, from the non-existent homeland security, from social encroachers, from organized crime ...

we're the greatest contributor for our country and our country gives us back nothing. each year we pour our hard earned money into the government's coffers only to have no understanding of where it all went. And in the end become victims of someone's misplaced anger.

This has to stop ...

so much money, so much time, so much strategy, such planning!! All for a futile exercise with such great repurcussions.

Don't these guys ever sit back and think? Don't they have a conscience that nags at them? Or something that tells them that they can put their brains to more prductive use for their betterment and that of others.

Maybe we ourselves are at fault with the value system and education we are propogating. Its some of us who are vulnerable enough to be led into such radical beliefs and actions. And the others just sit back and accept things as they are.

Its time we stood up. We are known to be tolerant people but its a virtue we need to give up now, I guess!

This is a real fiery piece man! Just something tht I wanted to read as it spoke things smartly. I damn the Gvmy man..After eceiving info they coul dnot talke precautions...Wht the heell, do they always want ot say they have no resources, no technology, or say tht the exact degree of the latitude n loingitude were not specified in the info given tht attacks were possible....

They coul dnot even come to rescue...How blant is tht...Today I am not more ashamed at wht happened...The time has gine to sit and feel ashamed...I am just so superbly angry and want to screw a few ppl...

They will continuw n go bak bak about peace, they are more concerned with some rubblish peace talks when we get bombed and we r not prepared.,...The Gvmt cares nothing ...A pile of waste

And about Mumbai returning ot normalcy...Now they want to use the spirit of Mumbai to show terrorist tht Mumabi wont budge even if they r taunted...They are shifting focus here and not fixing their faults....Damn them

I did hear Shiv Sena was helping people..>not sure about the credentials n dont care...Its the resuce guys who ought ot be smart to do this, not the public or any pther party though wht the public did is just great! They seem to have known the way the asses hardly show up and had to take matters in their own hands and bodies in bedsheets

Good thoughts... but where are the solutions. I see many people (me included) cry out the same feelings you have described, but very few doing anything about it.
I would like to see a post on how to put plans into action.... thats the tough bit!

appu raised fundamental question.
whats the solution for this
shall we try and put some possibilities?
1) shall we outsource our security to Israel? (outsourcing is stupid but we can always take cues from Israel about how they fight against all odds)
2) Do we need to convert RAW into a MOSAD like? Which has only one point agenda to wipe out (Read Destroy) all anti-country elements
3) Do we need to give Army the free hand to take care of our internal defenses too, We need to wipe LET, SIMI or whoever is behind this cowardly acts.

How can We (individuals) help our nation/city to fight with anti-social people?

apoo: the solution lies in such posts i.e. raising our voice and speaking out so loud that the officials can hear our voices. One thing i can say confidently that .. if u bounce off ur views/queries/questions to the government .. not as an individual but as a group .. they will be forced to take some actions in clearing the views/ queries. And if nothing else they have to answer our questions in one form or the other.

Unfortunately this country does not allow u to fight such situations (mainly due to the way we have let our government take shape of its own like over past 58 years) as an individual (unless u r SRK or some well known personality). The best way to find solutions for our rights is through strongly expressing ur views. (at least thats what i wud like to believe).

i may have a plan ...

abs: care to share you plan pls.

I would like to know the plan too!

Create awareness. Start a revolution. A-la fight club. Groups which are trained to act without any central leadership. What our ancestors did against the British, todays generation does it againt our corrupt leaders.

Dont let the public figures go away scot free. Even if it involves taking the drastic step. A few good men might go down with the bad ones. But tomorrow before some known public figure accepts a bribe or openly does a public evil, s/he should shudder with the thought of the fate which others who tread upon the same grounds have met. If they get away from the law, they should not get away from the people. If the law cannot restore order, people should. Unfortunately we are far from being able to do that, simply coz the lack of education amongst the masses.

The start has to be with the classes stepping down to the masses in a mass education drive. That will involve a sacrifice of time, money and a possibility of no positive results. Not many of us are ready to make that sacrifice. And as long as that remains true, politicians will feed off us.

apoo: what u sayin is absolutely correct. we need more educated people..from the total population around 40% stays below poverty line, and approx. 15% are just above the poverty line..for this 55% priority wud be food and not education.
for the balance 45%, government is anyways taking 2.2% educational tax on every damn thing u buy..so the first obvious thing that will come to any1s mind wud be .. whats happening with the money that we are payin as tax against education rural india!
I think clear understanding of many more such questions wud make the picture more clear..

Apoo: We ought to take them...We must alsno not get to bribing for smallest of favours ourselves, we r educated right. Lets stop it from us and let it hopefully flow
